Summer Fruit Cobbler

2 apples, peeled and chopped
1 large peach, peeled and chopped
1 cup strawberries, chopped
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted golden crisco shortening or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons sugar, for sprinkling

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 8x8" baking dish.
2. In a saucepan, place chopped fruit and stir in sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Cook on medium heat until fruit comes to a boil. Remove from heat and pour into dish.
3. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add melted crisco, vanilla, and milk. Stir until combined and drop heaped tablespoons onto hot fruit. Sprinkle sugar over top. Place dish on baking sheet incase fruit bubbles over.
4. Bake 35-40 minutes until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool 20 minutes before serving. Serve with cream if desired!
